Cardiff based Special Effects company Real SFX are proud to announce they have won a British Academy Television Cymru Award for special effects on the BBC’s 50th anniversary special Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor, in the category of Special, Visual & Graphic Effects. Real SFX also received nominations in this category for their work on Sherlock and Da Vinci's Demons.

The 2014 BAFTA Cymru Awards ceremony took place on the 26th October 2014 and celebrated the very best in Welsh television of the past year. The ceremony was hosted by Jason Mohammed at the Wales Millenium Centre.

Real SFX won the award for its work on the BBC’s epic 75-minute special Doctor Who 50th anniversary episode. Real SFX created the physical special effects for the episode which was broadcast on BBC One in the UK and worldwide, in November 2013, and holds a Guinness World Record as the largest simulcast of a TV drama in history.

Danny Hargreaves and some of his Cardiff based crew who worked on the anniversary episode attended the event after being nominated earlier in the year.
