QSA Apprenticeship Award 2016

On Thursday, 10th of March 2016 the annual Quality Skills Alliance awards ceremony was held at the Cardiff & Vale College Cardiff city centre campus.

Real SFX won ‘Small Employer of the Year’ at the 2016 QSA Awards. This is the second consecutive year that Real SFX have had success at the QSA Awards. The previous year's awards saw former special effects apprentice, Dai Kneath win in the ‘Creative Industries Apprentice of the Year’ category.

The Quality Skills Alliance is a consortium of work-based learning providers made up of 24 partners and subcontractors. The awards celebrate excellence and achievement, and the winners were chosen by a panel comprising the QSA’s chair and representatives from the Confederation of British Industry and the Welsh Government’s Department for Education and Skills.

Real SFX were nominated for this award by Sgil Cymru, who are a training provider for the creative industries. Carmela Carrubba, Creative Director at Real SFX said: “Thank you to my team of apprentices and team. A special thank you to Sue Jeffries, Nadine, Matt and Catrin for starting up Sgil Cymru after Cyfle went last year. Without individuals like Sue and Nadine with passion and drive in training, we would not be able to continue bringing new talented people into the creative industries via apprenticeships. Thank you to Andrew Cardiff and Vale College for supporting the apprentices this year and acting fast to save this year’s course. It is important that we all continue working together, giving these young people opportunity to learn a skill in the workplace. Congratulations to BBC Wales last night who we've been working closely with for years, Creative Skillset and all the winners tonight for all your achievements. A final thank you to the QSA and staff here this evening for amazing evening in this great facility.”

Real SFX would like to congratulate all nominees and winners at the QSA Awards.
