2017 QSA Awards // Gwobrau CAS 2017

Alongside Sgil Cymru, BBC Cymru Wales and Cardiff Theatrical Services, Real SFX celebrate success at the 2017 Quality Skills Alliance (QSA) Apprenticeship Awards. The QSA is a unique consortium of work based learning providers working together to develop excellence in apprenticeships, working with over a thousand employers to deliver apprenticeships across a huge range of sectors – from Automotive to Hairdressing, Creative Media to Pharmacy. The ceremony was held at the Cardiff and Vale College city centre campus on Wednesday 15th of March 2017.

Having been nominated by Sgil Cymru Real SFX’s first apprentice, Dewi Foulkes, won the Role Model of the Year award. This win follows an incredible few years of achievement for Dewi who was recently announced as one of the winners of the Emmy award for ‘Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Supporting Role’ for his work on Sherlock’s The Abominable Bride. Dewi started his apprenticeship back in 2012 and was hired by Real SFX as an Apprentice SFX Trainee. Since then Dewi has climbed through the ranks working on a number of prestigious productions including Outlander, Sherlock and Doctor Who.

Every Summer Real SFX recruit apprentices through the bilingual media training provider, Sgil Cymru. Based at Pinewood Studio Wales in Cardiff, the Sgil Cymru team have almost 75 years combined experience in bilingual media training and production. Sgil Cymru currently has 26 apprentices on 3 different schemes, working at companies across south Wales including BBC Cymru Wales, Equinox Communications, ITV Cymru Wales, Real SFX and S4C. Through partnership with Creative Skillset, Sgil Cymru is delivering a package of training courses for the UK film & TV industry in 2016 and 2017.

Ochr yn ochr â Sgil Cymru, BBC Cymru Wales a Cardiff Theatrical Services, wnaeth Real SFX dathlu llwyddiant yng Ngwobrau Prentisiaeth Cynrhair Ansawdd Sgiliau (CAS) 2017. Mae’r CAS yn gonsortiwm unigryw o ddarparwyr hyfforddiant dysgu yn y gwaith, sydd yn gweithio ar y cyd gyda dros mil o gyflogwyr i gynnig prentisiaethau dros ystod eang o sectorau – o Drin Gwallt i Waith Modurol, Cyfryngau Creadigol i Fferylliaeth. Cynhaliwyd y seremoni yng Nghampws Canol y Ddinas Coleg Caerdydd a'r Fro ar ddydd Mercher 15fed Mawrth 2017.

Enwebwyd gan Sgil Cymru, wnaeth cyn-brentis Real SFX, Dewi Foulkes, ennill y wobr am Brentis Ysbrydoliaethus y Flwyddyn. Mae'r fuddugoliaeth hon yn dilyn blynyddoedd o llwyddiant yn y diwydiant ar gyfer Dewi, a gyhoeddwyd yn ddiweddar fel un o'r enillwyr y wobr Emmy ar gyfer 'Effeithiau Gweledol Arbennig Eithriadol mewn Rôl Cefnogi' am ei waith ar Sherlock The Abominable Bride. Dechreuodd Dewi ei brentisiaeth yn ôl yn 2012 a chafodd ei gyflogi gan Real SFX fel Prentis Effeithiau Arbennig Dan Hyfforddiant. Ers hynny mae Dewi wedi dringo drwy'r rhengoedd yn gweithio ar nifer o gynyrchiadau mawreddog gan gynnwys Outlander, Sherlock a Doctor Who.

Mae Real SFX yn tueddu i recriwtio prentisiaid pob Haf trwy'r darparwr hyfforddiant dwyieithog, Sgil Cymru. Wedi’i leoli yn Pinewood Studio Cymru yng Nghaerdydd, mae gan dîm Sgil Cymru bron i 75 mlynedd o brofiad mewn hyfforddiant a chynhyrchu dwyieithog yn y cyfryngau rhyngddynt. Ar hyn o bryd mae gan Sgil Cymru 26 o brentisiaid ar 3 chynllun gwahanol, yn gweithio mewn cwmnïau ar draws de Cymru, gan gynnwys BBC Cymru Wales, Equinox Communications, ITV Cymru Wales, Real SFX a S4C. Trwy bartneriaeth gyda Creative Skillset, mae Sgil Cymru yn cyflwyno pecyn o gyrsiau hyfforddi ar gyfer y diwydiant ffilm a theledu y DU yn 2016 a 2017.
